IT office foyer

The area comprising the office foyer and reception for the conference rooms of the IT company is a small part of the overall project. Uniquely, in this location, the walls are constructed from purpose-made Corten steel panels, enhanced by plant arrangements, created by Green Studio. The reception desktop and wardrobe are made from teak by Andrzej Golab, a very fine carpenter from the Silesia region of Poland.

When Corten steel is used for interior surfaces, there is a risk of rust stains to clothing and, generally, the problem is solved by ‘pre-weathering’ the steel panels and then coating them with oil, which hardens the rust and prevents it from rubbing off.  Because time limits meant that we had to install unweathered panels, they will only be oiled once the rust-red patina has been achieved. To this end, I am presently using moisture to accelerate the steel’s weathering.

I should like to extend sincere thanks to the company’s CEOs, especially Monika Kaminska for her trust in my abilities and for the freedom that she gave me in creating the design. I should also like to thank Wojtek Ocypa and Damian Zareba for their architectural support: without you, this wouldn’t happen. Thank you for Krzysiek and Andrzej from Es-System for help within selecting the lighting and special thanks for Zbyszek Stanuszek for timely execution.
